Job Summary
In this position, you will join the data engineering team that supports Cal Poly's Data Warehouse and Business Intelligence platforms. As a Business Intelligence engineer you will develop dashboards and analyses, bridging the gap between our data platform and the functional use of data around campus. Expect to dig into code, construct dashboards, and interface with customers regularly.
This position is eligible for remote work pursuant to Cal Poly's Telecommuting and Remote Work Guidelines and the CSU policy requiring that all work be performed within the State of California.
Department Summary
Information Technology Services (ITS) is a fast-moving team that is responsible for helping Cal Poly achieve academic excellence through developing and implementing learning, teaching, and administrative solutions which leverage technology that align with strategic goals and objectives. With a focus on continuous improvement, ITS fosters innovation, supports continuous learning, and develops people to their full potential. Our team of more than 170 professionals works in a DevOps environment to shape the technology landscape at Cal Poly.
Key Qualifications
- Demonstrated skill building solutions with data visualization and analytics tools (e.g., Oracle Business Intelligence Enterprise Edition and/or Oracle Analytics, Tableau, Power BI, Amazon QuickSight).
- Demonstrated skill manipulating and shaping data for enterprise data sources or advanced analytical modeling.
- Demonstrated skill using databases/query languages to store, manipulate, and retrieve data (e.g., MySQL, Oracle, MSSQL, PostgreSQL, or Aurora).
- Thorough working knowledge of testing practices and application debugging and troubleshooting procedures.
- Demonstrated ability to identify and implement critical maintenance fixes and to isolate and correct malfunctions, including interface problems.
Education and Experience
- Bachelor's degree and two years of relevant experience. Additional qualifying experience may be substituted for up to two years of the required education on a year-for-year basis.
Salary and Benefits:
Anticipated Hiring Range: $87,000 - $110,000 per year
Classification Range: $ 56,136 - $138,564 per year
