Assistant District Engineer-State Aid
Up to $119,496 annually
Duluth, MN

This position will provide overall managerial direction and engineering leadership for the district state aid and federal aid programs with emphasis on safety, management and preservation of the state aid roadway system. This includes:
Serving on the district management team in setting priorities for the long range program within the district and leading, monitoring and assuring accountability of the local road program that supports this regional goal.
Supporting the district engineer by developing and maintaining collaborative working relationships with city councils, county boards, city and county engineering staff and other state and federal agencies that allow MnDOT to achieve its strategic directions in the areas of safety, innovation, leadership and transparency.
Promoting effective partnerships and effective communications and will serve on the statewide state aid management team in the development of policie

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

In order to minimally qualify, applicants must have current registration as a Professional Engineer (Civil) with the Minnesota Board of Architecture, Engineering, Land Surveying, Landscape Architecture, Geosciences and Interior Design (AELSLAGID) and have a minimum of five years professional engineering experience (post registration) of which at least three years are at the Principal Engineer (significant project management experience) level or higher.

Note: Qualifying Principal Engineer experience includes management of high level, complex projects or programs, including supervision of other engineers.

If you meet the above requirement, please provide a written summary of your knowledge and experience, in the following areas:
Leadership: strong leadership skills and an advanced level of supervisory/managerial work experience
Fiscal: strong budget/financial management skills.
Technical:
o Demonstrated experience and knowledge of federal, state, MNDOT, State Aid, city and county laws, ordinances, regulations and policies and codes as they relate to transportation systems construction, maintenance and operations.
o Thorough knowledge of construction and maintenance concepts, techniques, operations, methods, materials, equipment and broad knowledge of the related fields of surveying, design, specifications, drainage, contracts, traffic operations, and environmental engineering.
Communications/Human Relations: excellent oral and written skills to successfully interact and create strong relations with management, external stakeholders, and MnDOT staff and a high level of negotiation and conflict management skills.
